Description
If your reading curriculum is light on spelling instruction — or you are trying to figure out how to give three different groups of kids three different spelling lists without losing your mind — this second grade spelling program was built for exactly that situation.
This is a complete, year-long spelling program for second grade that lets students work at their own developmental level and move between levels as they grow. It is grounded in the Science of Reading and covers encoding skills in a logical progression, so your students are not just memorizing words — they are building real phonics knowledge week by week. Everything is ready to print and use, with a detailed guide that walks you through the whole setup so you can run it consistently all year long.

Encoding Skills Covered:
The program moves through a carefully sequenced set of phonics-based spelling skills across all three levels, including short vowel words, silent E, vowel teams and diphthongs, digraphs and trigraphs, blends, r-controlled vowels, soft C and G, silent letters, prefixes, suffixes, compound words, and inflectional endings.
The Three Differentiated Levels:
Level A is designed for beginning spellers who need to work on foundational encoding skills. Level B is your on-level group, working through the core second grade spelling sequence. Level C is for students who are ready for enrichment and more advanced word study. Students can move between levels throughout the year as their skills develop, so the program grows with them rather than locking them into one track.
This program works well for weekly spelling instruction, homework, and assessment. The pretest structure helps you place students and track their progress, and the homework sheets go home without any extra prep on your part. Because all three levels are built into the same system, you are not managing three completely separate programs — everything runs on the same weekly routine, which makes it much easier to keep going consistently. The parent letter and the standards listed on student pages also make it simple to communicate what kids are working on and why.
