Description

The first day of school is exciting, but it can also feel a little awkward — for your students and for you. Getting everyone comfortable and talking right from the start makes a real difference in how the rest of the year unfolds.

This Four Corners ice breaker game gets your students up, moving, and laughing together on day one. It comes in two versions, so you can start with a low-stakes round where students learn what they have in common with each other, then kick things up a notch with a competitive round all about you, the teacher.

WHAT YOU WILL GET:

  • Two complete versions of the game, each with 24 questions
  • Number posters to label your four corners
  • Color-coded answer choices that match the corner posters
  • PowerPoint format sized to fit your whiteboard — just open and display

Version 1: Get to Know Your Classmates

Each slide asks students a question about what they did over summer break. Students move to the corner that matches their answer, and right away they can see who shares their experiences. It is a natural, easy way for kids to start connecting with each other without anyone feeling put on the spot.

Version 2: Get to Know the Teacher

This is where things get really fun. Each question is about what you did over summer break, and students have to guess which answer is correct. They move to the corner they think is right, you reveal the answer, and anyone who guessed wrong sits down. The game keeps going until only one student is left standing. Kids love trying to figure out their new teacher, and you will love how quickly it gets everyone engaged and laughing.

Because the PowerPoint is already formatted to fit your whiteboard, there is genuinely nothing to prep. You open it, display it, and play. It works well as your very first activity of the day, as a way to fill that transition time while you get your bearings, or any time you want to bring some energy back into the room during those first few days of school.
