Coin Reference Sheet
This is great to keep in your students’ math or homework folders. It shows what each coin looks like, its name and value, and how it compares in value to other coins. Also includes the one dollar bill. This is provided in both color and black & white.
Coin Worksheets
-
Coin Poem Worksheet – This helps students recognize coins and their values. Read the poem, cut out pictures of the coins, and glue in the correct box.
-
Coin Names – Students cut out and glue pictures of coins (front and back) under the corresponding name.
-
Coin Values – Students cut out and glue pictures of coins (front and back) under the corresponding value.
Coin Posters
Includes posters for penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and half-dollar. Each poster shows the coin, its name, and its value in word form and number form.
Coin Games
-
Money Trader (Race to a Dollar Game) – Students roll the dice and collect coins. When they have enough money, they can trade up for a coin with a larger value. The first one to trade up to a dollar wins. Works best with 2-4 players, but includes instructions for a single-player.
-
Money Match Up – This is a memory/sorting game for matching coin pictures (front and back) with the corresponding value and name. Students take turns trying to find two cards that go together.
These coin identification activities are a great hands-on way for students to become familiar with U.S. coins. They are fun to use during your guided math groups and in centers.
