Description
This is a compound words bingo game that runs itself so you can focus on your students instead of calling words! Each round, students read a decodable sentence with a missing compound word. They figure out what it is, and then find and mark it on their bingo card. The PowerPoint presentation advances automatically, so once you start the game, you can pull a small group or circulate the room.
WHAT YOU WILL GET:
- 24 bingo cards with words only
- 24 bingo cards with pictures
- PowerPoint presentation with auto-advancing slides
- Printable calling cards
- Instructions
- Cheat sheet to track which words have been called
How the PowerPoint Works:
Each slide shows a decodable sentence with a missing compound word, plus two pictures that each represent one part of the missing word. Students use those clues to identify the compound word and mark it on their card. The slides advance on their own, and there is a built-in shuffle feature so you can mix up the order with one click and play again without repeating the same game.
Printable Calling Cards:
If you do not have access to PowerPoint or want to play in a small group, the printable calling give you an alternative.
Having two sets of bingo cards, one with words and one with pictures, gives you a built-in way to differentiate. You can use the picture cards for students who need more support and the word-only cards for students who are ready for a bigger challenge, all in the same game. This works well as a whole-class activity, a literacy center, or a small group game during intervention time. Toss in some candy as markers and your students will ask to play it every week.
