Animal Classification Tic-Tac-Toe

This is a 2-person game in which students determine if animals are vertebrates and invertebrates. They take turn drawing animal cards and placing them on a corresponding space on the board. The first to get three in a row is the winner.

 Guess Who Game

This is a quick review game that takes just a few minutes to play. Can be used as a whole group activity or played by partners. Each card has a list of classification clues that are used to guess the animal. Try to guess using as few clues as possible.

Animal Sort Worksheet

Students cut out the names of animals and glue them under the correct heading to show if they are vertebrates or invertebrates.

Vertebrate Sort Worksheet

This activity requires students to sort a list of animals according to the type of vertebrate they are: mammal, fish, bird, amphibian, or reptile.

Warm or Cold Blooded? Worksheet

Students cut out the different types of vertebrates and glue them onto a graphic organizer to show whether they are warm- or cold-blooded. They will also write examples of animals that belong in each category.
