Similes and Metaphors Sort
Students will read sentences and identify the simile or metaphor in them. Next, they cut out the sentences and glue them onto a graphic organizer to show what type of figurative language they contain.
 
Similes and Metaphors in Context
Students will read a short passage and highlight examples of figurative language. They will then complete a chart showing what the simile or metaphor said and what the author actually meant.
 
Using Similes to Compare
This is a cut-and-glue worksheet in which students complete similes by choosing the best descriptive phrase.
 
Describe Yourself with Similes
Students read an example of an acrostic poem using similes. Then, they will write their own to describe themselves.
 
Figurative Language in Poetry
Students will read two short poems, identify examples of similes and metaphors within them, and explain their meaning.
