This is a set of activities to help emergent readers practice sounding out and blending CVC words. It includes a set of blending sounds activities for your reading centers and mini books for independent practice.
 
TAP AND BLEND CENTERS
These blending activities are perfect for centers or to use in your guided reading groups. Each card has 5 words with the same middle vowel sound. Students tap the dot under each letter as they sound out and blend the letters to read the word. After reading the CVC word, they place the corresponding picture in the box. Includes 10 word cards (two for each short vowel) and 50 picture cards.
 
There are also 2 review cards containing a mix of words with different vowel sounds. These should be used after students are proficient with the individual blending cards.
 
I CAN READ BOOKLETS
This is a set of 5 mini books, one for each vowel sound. Students read by tapping and blending CVC words on each page. Then they cut and glue the matching picture onto the page. Great for working on fine motor skills! When completed, these make great little take-home books for independent phonics practice. Students can also color the picture that goes with each word.
 
These activities are appropriate for beginning readers at the kindergarten level. They can be used when you initially teach blending CVC words or for intervention with students who are still struggling with this skill.
