Kindergarten Morning Work Set 1
 
This set of kindergarten morning work includes 9 weeks of daily reading and math practice. Each week focuses on a specific letter, number, and color.
 
This is SET 1 which is most appropriate for the beginning of the year and for students who are just learning to recognize their letters and numbers.
 
The order that letters are presented in this morning work pack follow a commonly used sequence for teaching letters and sounds. This sequence first introduces letters that are most commonly used in kindergarten sight words.
 
Letters - S, A, T, I, P, N, C, K, E
Numbers - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Colors - green, red, orange, blue, pink, brown, black, yellow, purple
 
Daily reading tasks:
color, trace, and write the focus letter (upper and lower case)
color pictures starting with that letter
identify the letter among a group of mixed letters
use the target letter to complete words (initial, medial, or ending sound)
 
Daily math tasks:
color, trace, and write the target number
count and color objects
count on a number line
use a ten frame
 
Other daily tasks:
color the day of the week
color the weather
use the color of the week to color and write
write name
 
In addition to the daily work pages, there is also a cover page that students can color. This allows you to staple the pages into a booklet or work packet.
 
This morning work is designed with kindergarteners in mind and promote independence. Pages feature:
 
consistent, predictable format
clear, primary fonts that show proper letter formation
uncluttered layout with plenty of space
manageable number of tasks on each page
easy to understand directions with visual supports
 
These daily worksheets could also be used as homework rather than morning work.
