Fractions Games for Math Centers

Tired of the same old fractions worksheets? This set of printable fractions games will give your students plenty of hands-on practice and they are so much more fun! These activities are perfect for math centers - easy to learn and students just need a partner to play.

The games involve:

  • identifying and naming fractions of a whole (fraction circles)
  • identifying and naming fractions of a group
  • combining fractions with like denominators to form one whole
  • identifying fractions on a number line
  • comparing fractions on a number line

Includes 5 different fractions games:

Fraction Action

This game involves identifying fractions of a whole. Students roll dice to create a fraction (using the smaller number for the numerator, larger for the denominator) and then find the matching circle model on the game board.

Triple Threat

In this game, students identify fractions of a set or group. They draw cards that show a group of objects. Each card has a question that requires the player to name the fraction and then mark the fraction on the game board.

Fill ‘Em Up

The objective of this game is to identify fractions of a whole and build whole units using fractional parts. Players take turns drawing fraction cards and coloring them in on their game board until a whole is filled in. This helps students understand that the denominator shows how many pieces it takes to make a whole.

Model Match Up

This game requires students to identify fractions on a number line and also modeled as fraction circles. They try to find two that match to make as many pairs as they can.

All Star Fractions

To play, students compare fractions on a number line and determine which is greater. This game can be differentiated by having higher level students find equivalent fractions with different denominators.

All of these games are designed for two players. Perfect for partner work and math stations!

I got these for my third graders. They were easy to print and laminate. My class really loves them and they are practicing skills that I'm teaching.
