Intro to Division With Remainders Task Cards and Math Centers

 

This resource focuses on basic division with remainders. It is designed for students just learning or struggling with the concept. It's also a great introduction and head start for 3rd graders going into 4th.

Each card contains a division word problem involving dividends of 30 or less. The smaller numbers allow students to focus on the process of division with remainders without getting hung up on difficult calculations.

 

Students read each word problem and then use the manipulatives to model what is happening in the problem, determine the answer, and see if any remainder is left.

 

The printable manipulatives give students a concrete way to find solutions and build a strong understanding of what remainders are and how we get them.

CCSS4.NBT.B.6

Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
